Pundit's message to Helder Costa and Jack Harrison after Leeds United win

Leeds United's unbeaten week against their promotion rivals proves their challenge for the Premier League is still firing on all cylinders, according to Sam Parkin, who believes the Whites are back in the ascendancy.

Luke Ayling's first-half strike proved the difference at Elland Road as Marcelo Bielsa's men picked up a first victory in three games to regain the advantage over Fulham in a tightly-contested Championship battle.

Coupled with results elsewhere, including defeat for the Cottagers against relegation favourites Barnsley and a draw between league leaders West Bromwich Albion and Nottingham Forest, the outlook is looking somewhat rosier for United fans.

Leeds might have hoped to earn more goals however, with Patrick Bamford once again drawing a blank and Helder Costa spurning a particularly great chance in the second half.

Speaking during EFL on Quest, former Swindon Town and Luton Town forward Parkin was quick to praise Bristol goalkeeper Daniel Bentley, whose efforts kept the hosts to just one goal, but acknowledged Leeds look to be hopefully back in form.

"Firstly, let's commend the performance of Dan Bentley because he was excellent for Bristol City," he said.

"Yes, it's a little bit of the same old story for Leeds. I still want to see [Jack] Harrison and [Helder] Costa chipping in with goals to try and alleviate that burden which has built up on Patrick Bamford so far this season.

"I want to give Leeds some credit, though. I see it as a week of recovery for them. It was a good point at Brentford and a clean sheet today. Kalvin Phillips was exceptional once again in front of the back four.

"We thought Leeds would come again and they have done this week. Hopefully for their supporters they are on the up now."
