Pundit outlines concern for Newcastle and what they need to secure Premier League survival

Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas feels Newcastle still need three wins to secure their Premier League status.

The Magpies moved to within eight points of the fabled 40-point mark considered the benchmark for survival after Saturday's draw with Burnley, but are still just five points above the relegation zone.

Newcastle have failed to score in their last four Premier League games and Nicholas is concerned about how much their form has dropped off since the turn of the year.

And with 10 games remaining, the former Arsenal and Celtic star feels Newcastle need to win at least three of them to preserve their Premier League status.

"I think they still probably need another three wins to get a bit of security," Nicholas said on Gillette Soccer Saturday.

"But it is the way they fall away. They have a quickness and a sharpness look about them, nice shape and good organisation but they don't score many goals.

"They had good away wins earlier in the season but it just seems to have fallen away a little bit and I don't know how.

"I don't think Steve Bruce quite knows how."
