Pundit names only six Manchester United players that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer should keep

Pundit Tim Sherwood believes there are only six Manchester United players worth keeping at the club beyond this summer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks set to oversee a major rebuild at United over the summer, with big names such as Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez, Paul Pogba and David De Gea all linked with moves away. Fringe players like Marcos Rojo, Eric Bailly and Matteo Darmian have also been touted for exits, while Ander Herrera, Antonio Valencia and Juan Mata all see their contracts expire in the summer.

And former Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa boss Sherwood says only six stars should be kept at United: Marcus Rashford, Scott McTominay, Jesse Lingard, Luke Shaw, Victor Lindelof and David De Gea.

On McTominay, Sherwood told Premier League Today: “Listen, I hold my hands up, I don’t think he’s the most talented player in their squad.

“But he’s a squad member and he cares about the football club."

Asked about the other played Solskjaer should keep, he added: “De Gea, I would say Lindelof has had a massive improvement under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

“He’s someone who will continue to develop. After that, I’ll be scratching my head to really rubber stamp and say ‘you need to keep this one’.

“I think they need to go into the transfer market, obviously you can’t keep all of them. (Ashley) Young has got to go in my opinion, I think you can persevere with Luke Shaw. I would keep Luke, I think that he would buy into you.

“I think that he plays the Manchester United way. I think he’s a dynamic player going forward.”
