Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has made a surprising claim about Tottenham Hotspur on the back of their impressive win over Manchester City on Saturday night.
Jose Mourinho's men made their latest statement following a bright start to the season with a 2-0 victory over Man City, Son Heung-min and Giovani Lo Celso scoring the all-important goals to take their team onto 20 points for the season.
The win was enough to see Spurs move into top spot, but former Chelsea and Aston Villa frontman Cascarino still thinks Pep Guardiola's men will finish higher in the final table, despite City currently training by eight points and 11 positions.
"If you said to me today: 'who is going to finish higher, Manchester City or Spurs?' I would still say Manchester City because I still think there are a lot of questions to be answered by Spurs and I think Manchester City will finish above them," he told talkSPORT.
"But it's really intriguing watching Spurs develop and Jose implementing that change. He has changed quite a lot. He has changed full-backs at Tottenham, he has changed midfield players, brought in Hojbjerg who has done a brilliant job.
"He is doing things where he has seen what is wrong and he has tried to make them much more competitive. But there are massive challenges ahead of them."
Tottenham's title credentials are set to be tested in the coming weeks with the Man City game only the first of a number of difficult fixtures.
Mourinho's men are next in Premier League action against Chelsea, before facing Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Leicester City before Christmas.
Those games should paint a much clearer picture of whether Spurs are indeed to be taken seriously as title contenders.
