Pundit makes surprising Chelsea claim as Olivier Giroud stars against Leeds to send Blues top

Here is your Chelsea morning digest on Sunday, December 6.

Giroud stars in Leeds win

Chelsea moved to the top of the Premier League table last night, defeating Leeds United 3-1 at Stamford Bridge.

After Patrick Bamford handed the Whites an early goal on his return to west London, Chelsea hit back thanks to goals from Olivier Giroud, Kurt Zouma and substitute Christian Pulisic.

Whilst Chelsea were forced to be patient at times, they were full value for the three points, as they dominated for long spells of the contest.

And for Frank Lampard, his pre-match selection paid dividends, as Giroud repaid the faith shown in him, firing home a clever equaliser.

Hargreaves' surprising Chelsea admission

Owen Hargreaves believes Chelsea won't come close to the Premier League title this season, despite the side's really strong start.

The Blues' busy summer transfer window has helped Lampard's side make a brilliant start to the 2020/21 campaign, but Hargreaves has played their title chances down.

"I don't think so," Hargreaves replied when asked if Lampard's side can challenge Liverpool and Manchester City for this season's Premier League crown.

"I like Chelsea and I like what Lampard is building, but I just think Liverpool and Manchester City are above them. I don’t think it will even be close. I think it will be those two first and second and a bunch of other teams after that."

Blues fans react to former wonderkid's goal

Chelsea supporters have been reacting to former youth star Jamal Musiala's brilliant goal for Bayern Munich in their 3-3 draw with RB Leipzig on Saturday.

Musiala left the Blues in the summer of 2019 after rejecting a new contract at Stamford Bridge, and is now impressing for the reigning champions of Europe.

The 17-year-old has already scored three times for Bayern this season in the Bundesliga and his latest strike left some of the west London club's supporters very upset.

@WernersaurusBT tweeted: "Musiala is deffo going to be in one of those 'players who left Chelsea and became good' YouTube videos. I'm already prepared to be fuming at my recommendations in a year's time."
