On-loan Leeds United starlet Jack Clarke has been urged to leave Elland Road in January, amid reported interest from Nottingham Forest.
The Reds were last month linked with a move for the forward, who is currently spending the season on loan with Leeds from parent-club Tottenham Hotspur.
Derby County and Middlesbrough are reportedly plotting a bid to sign Clarke in January.
Recent reports have claimed that Clarke is set to be recalled by Spurs in the New Year, having barely featured for manager Marcelo Bielsa this term.
The 19-year-old has made just three appearances for Leeds this season, with two of those coming in the Carabao Cup while also having one substitute appearance in the Championship.
Former Leeds striker Noel Whelan reckons that Spurs will not be happy with Clarke’s lack of playing time, adding that the forward will depart Elland Road in the New Year.
“He’s quitting Leeds, that’s clear to see,” Whelan told Football Insider . “He’s not playing and Tottenham aren’t going to be happy with that.
“Jack Clarke’s very much down the pecking order and the only way that will change is if there are injuries. Otherwise, Marcelo Bielsa doesn’t really change his team.
“We can afford to let him go, but we need to replace him. Not necessarily with a winger, we have wide men. Maybe a centre-back or a midfielder.
“We have plenty of wide man, and [Ezgjan] Alioski can play there as well.”
