Pundit explains why Mateusz Klich suits Marcelo Bielsa and gets the best out of Leeds United

Jermaine Beckford believes Leeds United wouldn’t be where they are without Mateusz Klich in their side.

The Polish midfielder has played a crucial role for Marcelo Bielsa as the Whites have edged closer to earning their place back in the Premier League.

Leeds are well set to end their 16-year wait for a place back in the top flight, with a maximum of seven points needed from their final four games in order to secure promotion from the Championship.

After seeing off Stoke City 5-0 on Thursday evening, a trip to Swansea City is next up on Sunday.

One of the key players in their journey back to the top flight has been Klich, who has made a total of 47 appearances in all competitions for United this season.

And the 30-year-old came in for some special praise from former Leeds striker Beckford, who believes Klich holds the key to his side’s success.

“He does exactly what Bielsa wants in one of his central players,” Beckford told Sky Sports during their coverage of Leeds' win over the Potters.

“He’s got a great engine on him. He gets up and down the pitch relentlessly, consistently, right the way from the beginning until the end of the match.

“He frees a lot of space in there for Kalvin Phillips, and for Tyler Roberts as well. If he’s not in there, it doesn’t work the same way. For me, he’s a great player.”
