Pundit explains why Leeds United winger Raphinha will wait for a club 'bigger' than Arsenal

Danny Murphy believes that Leeds United winger Raphinha will wait for a bigger club than Arsenal in the summer transfer window, as he told talkSPORT on Monday morning.

Raphinha has been linked with moves to Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona. But former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Murphy expects the Brazilian winger not to join Mikel Arteta’s side.

“And talking about Raphinha, he has not gone there, has he? I think he will be waiting for a bigger one than that, Raphinha,” Murphy said.

Transfer news aficionado Fabrizio Romano has reported that Arsenal have scheduled a meeting with Leeds next week, who are expected to ask again for a £65 million transfer fee.

Barcelona are also still in contact with Raphinha’s agent Deco after personal terms were agreed but are yet to submit a fresh bid.

Tottenham and Chelsea are also in talks with Deco, while Newcastle United have also reportedly joined the race.

Raphinha has scored 17 goals in 67 appearances across all competitions since joining Leeds from Stade Rennes in 2020 and has netted three times in nine caps for Brazil.

The 25-year-old finished as Leeds’ leading scorer last season and will be a huge miss at Elland Road, especially with another crucial cog in the system, Kalvin Phillips, also expected to join Manchester City.
