Pundit explains reason Man City have edge on Chelsea and Liverpool despite Guardiola concern

Manchester City have a slight edge on Chelsea and Liverpool in the early Premier League title race - despite a big concern for Pep Guardiola.

That's according to talkSPORT pundit and former Scotland international, Ally McCoist, who is tipping Guardiola and his star-studded team to claim the trophy for a fourth time in five seasons.

Beaten on the opening day by Tottenham - minus summer target Harry Kane - City have since picked up four wins and two draws heading into this international break.

That sequence includes an eye-catching victory over Chelsea and an equally important point at Anfield.

Despite failing in their attempt to sign a replacement for club record goalscorer Sergio Aguero - now in Spain with La Liga giants Barcelona - it's those performances against other title contenders which have made Guardiola and co the side to beat once again.

Asked if the top-four would remain the same, McCoist said: "I have to be brutally honest. I'm changing on a weekly basis here. I think the winners will come...

"I have been really impressed with how Manchester City have played against the other big teams.

Who will win the Premier League title this season? Have your say in the comments section below.

"I still have a concern for Manchester City that they don't have an out and out number 9 goalscorer. I'm probably a little more concerned than Manchester City fans seem to be, to be fair to them.

"They have been brilliant in possession in two away trips to Liverpool and Chelsea - and I actually thought they did alright in Paris to be quite frank.

"I've still got them just, just, just slight favourites ahead of Chelsea and Liverpool."
