Pundit criticises Graham Coughlan for lack of class as Bristol Rovers legend Ian Holloway speaks out

An EFL pundit says Graham Coughlan's post-match press conference after Bristol Rovers' win over Ipswich Town on Saturday lacked class.

The Gas were on a high after the win at Portman Road moved them up to fourth in League One, but the club were soon rocked when Coughlan openly questioned his own future post-match.

League Two Mansfield Town have made an approach for the Rovers boss, who told players after the win he was leaving.

Speaking to Quest, former Arsenal and Southend midfielder Adrian Clarke, said he felt there were better ways for Coughlan to go about initiating his departure.

He said: "They're on the verge of achieving something really special, Bristol Rovers.

"They've got chance of getting promotion to the Championship.

"Everyone's entitled to choose the job they want, it's just the way he's going about it doesn't seem very classy to me."

Gas legend Ian Holloway was on the same programme and, whilst he refused to be drawn on if he would be interested in the Rovers job should it become available, admitted his disappointment at the situation the club now found themselves in.

"It's bitterly disappointing," he said.

"I'm delighted Graham's been there, I didn't like the sacking of Darrell Clarke, I didn't think that was right, but Graham's took over and he's done a really, really solid job.

"He managed to get hold of Jonson Clarke-Harris last season to keep us up.

"I'm absolutely gutted, today that should have been about Bristol Rovers but unfortunately now the joy of that has gone away.

"Beating Ipswich is really special."
