Everton boss Rafael Benitez told he should be under 'huge pressure'

Everton boss Rafael Benitez needs ‘to get results fast’ according to Paul Robinson after their 3-1 loss at Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The defeat left the Blues 14th in the Premier League after a fourth defeat in their last five games.

The Toffees travelled to south London in good spirits after producing a gutsy performance to beat Arsenal at Goodison Park last Monday, but errors from Demarai Gray and Seamus Coleman gifted Palace the three points.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game Benitez criticised his side’s defending by stating: “You cannot do that in the Premier League.”

The Toffees have made six errors leading to a goal which is the most of any side in the league this season.

Robinson was shocked by the amateurish nature of Everton’s defensive lapses, and claims the pressure is building on under-fire Benitez.

“I was surprised by the performance after the result against Arsenal on Monday," he told Football Insider.

“I don’t think they played particularly badly against Palace but individual errors let them down.

“Benitez is huge pressure because they have only picked up something like five points from 30.

“There is a lot of reasons as to why Benitez is under huge pressure though. The signings in recent times have been really poor. Benitez is picking up the pieces.

“They need to get some results fast though because they are sliding down the table.”

Everton have won just one of their last 10 games and face a daunting trip to Chelsea on Thursday evening.
