Pundit admits he's been 'proved wrong' by Jesse Marsch at Leeds United

Jobi McAnuff has admitted that he's been proved wrong by Leeds United head coach Jesse Marsch. The former Premier League winger says he was 'doubtful' when Marsch was appointed as Leeds boss, but he believes the team are now evolving 'nicely into his style'.

Marsch took over as Whites boss in February following the sacking of Marcelo Bielsa. He steered Leeds to survival, avoiding relegation on the final day of the season at Brentford in dramatic fashion.

Now in his first full season, Leeds will be looking to improve on last term's 17th-placed finish. They have began the new campaign in a promising manner and McAnuff says the American has proved a lot of people wrong since being appointed at Elland Road.

"I do like what Jesse Marsch has done in terms of that energy," McAnuff told The Totally Football Show.

"For me, all good managers seem to be able to replicate themselves out on the pitch. When I hear Jesse Marsch talk, he's all about energy, intensity and enthusiasm - and that's definitely what I see when I watch Leeds.

"(Brenden) Aaronson has come in and really added to that, and (Jack) Harrison of course. For me, he's proved a lot of people wrong. I've got to say that I was a bit doubtful when he first came in. He did the first job and kept them up and now they seem to be moving quite nicely into his style.

"Every coach needs a bit of time, and I'm sure in pre-season he's been able to get some of his ideas across into his players. They've had a really good start."
