Punchestown Festival tips plus Ayr best bets, Nottingham, Brighton and Yarmouth

It's a huge day in Ireland as the Punchestown Festival kicks off but there's plenty of action closer to home.

CHOOKIE DUNEDIN (8.30) can soar for Carluke Ace Keith Dalgleish on Racing TV Racenight at Ayr.

The seven-year-old was just denied a hat-trick by Carnival Zain on his return to Turf at Catterick.

The gelding remains in terrific form so he can go one better under talented claimer Ryan Sexton.

SHINE ON BRENDAN (5.10) can make a winning debut for Uplawmoor Maestro Jim Goldie.

The gelding can do plenty of damage for his new yard after some fair runs for Harvey Batisman.

COSMOS RAJ (5.40) can extend David O’Meara’s winning run in the racingtv.com Handicap.

The four-year-old ended a productive 2021 with a cracking second to Serenading at Newcastle.

The gelding remains well-treated and he will be primed after a decent comeback sixth at Ripon.

Karl Burke is also flying at present so I’m on SHALLOW HAL (6.15) in a competitive sprint.

The six-year-old recorded another personal best when chinned by If You Dare at Lingfield.

That race is working out pretty well so this likeable speedster can triumph dropped in class.

The Yorkshire handler can also claim a fascinating maiden with BREAKING LIGHT (7.25).

The filly rates a sure-fire improver after her good debut second to Merlin's Lady at this venue.

CLANSMAN (6.50) can cut his rivals down to size for shrewd handler Liam Bailey.

The gelding decisively defeated Al Qaasim on debut for his current connections at Redcar.

The four-year-old is nicely unexposed over 1m 2f so he can account for his old foe yet again.

ROSE BANDIT (8.00) can blossom for in-form Ian Jardine in a trappy sprint handicap.

The five-year-old recorded another career best when edging out Khabib at Musselburgh.

The filly is just as good at this venue so she can make light of a well-deserved 3lb penalty.

TRIBAL ART (4.40) can take a red-hot staying handicap at Nottingham for Mark Johnston.

The gelding got back on track when outbattling Pearl Beach on his return at Wolverhampton.

The four-year-old is open to plenty of progress over 1m 6f so he make light of a lenient 1lb hike.

GLAN (4.50) can strike for Gordon Elliott on Day One of the Punchestown Festival.
