
A few massive pumpkins are readied to be auctioned off on Sept. 27 at a fair featuring the fruit in Ota Ward, Tokyo, ahead of Halloween this month.
Leading flower wholesaler Ota Floriculture Auction organized the annual fair, which is in its 25th year and runs the sale of pumpkins, which are used as decorations. Various sizes -- from pumpkins that fit in the palm of a hand to one that requires three people to carry it because it is 1 meter in diameter and weighs 90 kilograms -- were sold as an auctioneer rambled away.
