'Go down in legend' - Nottingham Forest player ratings after victory over Leeds United

Nottingham Forest made a big statement of intent as they clinched a huge 2-0 win over promotion rivals Leeds United.

Goals from Sammy Ameobi and Tyler Walker wrapped up three vital points amid an electric atmosphere on the banks of the Trent.

Here’s how Reds reporter Sarah Clapson rated the Forest players at the City Ground.

Brice Samba: Pulled off the kind of save which deserves to go down in legend. Somehow stuck up a hand and clawed away Liam Cooper’s header from off the line at the second attempt. Could be an important one in the promotion race. Rating: 9/10

Matty Cash: Another excellent display at right-back. Had his work cut out at times but stood up to the task and played a key role in what could be a vital clean-sheet. Rating: 9/10

(PA)

Tobias Figueiredo: Defended like an absolute trojan throughout. Made some crucial blocks, tackles, headers and anything else required when Leeds pressed forwards. Rating: 9/10

Joe Worrall: Looked to have a good case for earning a penalty when he was hauled down in the first half. Immovable at the other end of the pitch, though. Rating: 9/10

Yuri Ribeiro: Lovely little ball to set Ameobi away for the opener as he weighed in with an assist. Made some good runs to offer an attacking outlet. Rating: 9/10

Ben Watson: Did a lot of hard work in midfield, trying to break up play. Passing let him down on occasion when he got into some promising positions, but not really what he’s there for. Rating: 8/10

Samba Sow: Midfielder was made for this type of blood-and-thunder game. Made a huge difference having him back in the side - and didn't he let Leeds know it! Rating: 8/10

Joe Lolley: No question he was well up for this one. Pulled the strings for Forest going forward with some delightful pieces of play. He really is back in top form. Rating: 9/10

(PA)

Tiago Silva: The Portuguese ace just keeps getting better. Has really settled into the Championship now and did his best to add to his goal tally. Rating: 8/10

Sammy Ameobi: For all the times he can be so frustrating, the winger is capable of popping up with moments like this one. Great run and driving shot. A good game all round. Rating: 8/10

Lewis Grabban: Worked tremendously hard and deserved a goal to show for it. Fired straight at Kiko Casilla with a golden chance in the second half, though. Rating: 8/10

Subs

Adama Diakhaby (for Ameobi, 67): Tried to get at the visitors when he had the ball and pitched in defensively. Rating: 6/10

Ryan Yates (for Silva, 80): Brought on to help shore things up in the closing stages as Leeds pushed to get something out the game. Rating: 7/10

Tyler Walker (for Grabban, 90): What a way to mark your return. Lovely, lovely goal to clinch the win with. Rating: 8/10

Subs not used: Muric, Bong, Jenkinson, Dawson.
