Pugs of the Frozen North by Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre – review

This book is about a girl calked Sika, a boy called Shen, 66 pugs, a race to the top of the world and an amazing prize. At the beginning of the book Shen is shipwrecked and finds himself looking after 66 pugs. Stranded on the ice he finds help at Po of Ice where he meets Sika.

The two of them (and the 66 pugs) take part in a sled race. My favourite character is Professor Shackleton, one of the other racers, because of his clever inventions including SNOBOT.

This is a really, really good book because it’s an exciting story and has such fantastic drawings. I really liked the pictures of Snowfather and the grandpa. My favourite part in the book is when they meet the Yetis who feed them special noodles made out of snow, this made me laugh lots. The drawing of the yetis making noodles is amazing and it’s funny seeing the noodles start as snowballs.

I also really like the different types of snow. It surprised me when I read there were 50 types and I wasn’t expecting how funny they would be. If I could invent a snow it would be ‘book snow’ which spits out all your favourite books to read.

I give this book 10/10 and also recommend the other books by these two as the stories are all unique with great pictures.
