PUDUCHERRY: The daily positivity rate of Covid-19 infection dropped to 4. 8% in the Union territory of Puducherry on Saturday. Of the 1,705 samples tested, 81 returned positive for the infection.
However, Puducherry’s infection rate is higher than the national average of 3. 5%.
The weekly positivity rate, which was hovering around 30% a few days ago, dropped to 8. 5%. Puducherry's weekly rate is also higher than the national average of 5. 1%. As many as 493 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. Presently, 1,581 active cases are undergoing treatment.
Of them, 1,530 are under home isolation and treatment while the rest 51 are in hospitals.
Puducherry headquarters reported 59 cases followed by Karaikal (20), Yanam and Mahe one each. Puducherry headquarters has the maximum acti ve cases with 900 followed by Karaikal (565), Yanam (94) and Mahe (22). The territory did not report any Covid-19 deaths.
