PUDUCHERRY: The Covid-19 positivity rate, which was less than 1% before the New Year, crossed 5% on Friday in Puducherry. The positivity rate of the samples (3,367) tested on Friday stood at 5.3%.
The territory reported 177 fresh Covid-19 cases even as 14 patients recovered in the last 24 hours ending at 10am on Friday, taking the total number of active cases to 562. Of them, 470 patients are under home isolation and treatment.
Puducherry headquarters reported the maximum fresh cases (129) followed by Karaikal (41) and Mahe (7). Yanam did not report any fresh Covid-19 cases. Puducherry headquarters has the maximum active cases (398) followed by Karaikal (127), Mahe (35) and Yanam (2).
The territory did not report any Covid-19 death on Friday, with the net toll at 1,881. The fatality rate of the infection remained at 1.5%.
The territory reported 1.28 lakh cases of which 1.27 lakh cases recovered registering a recovery rate of 98.1%.
Healthcare authorities have so far tested 20.63 lakh swab samples, of which 17.51 lakh samples have returned negative. They have so far administered 14.37 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccine. They have administered the first dose to 8.63 lakh people and two doses to 5.74 lakh people.
