Pubs will shut in East Kilbride as of Friday for just over two weeks in a bid to halt the surge in coronavirus cases.
All licensed premises, including pubs, restaurants and licensed cafes, within the central belt - which includes Lanarkshire - will have to shut their doors until Sunday, October 25.
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon addressed Parliament today revealing latest figures show 1054 new cases of COVID in the last 24 hours across Scotland and one new death.
She said: "We are particularly concerned about Greater Glasgow & Clyde, Lanarkshire, Ayrshire & Arran, Lothian and Forth Valley.
"Without action - and this is perhaps the starkest warning in today’s evidence paper - we are likely to return to the peak level of infections we had in the Spring by the end of this month."
In these areas, all licensed premises - with the exception of hotels for residents - will be required to close indoors and outdoors, though takeaways will be permitted.
And the First Minister says that although there are not any mandatory travel restrictions, people in the central belt should not travel outside their local area and others shouldn't visit there "unless they need to".
But she announced a £40m package of support for businesses affected by the latest restrictions.
In her daily update at St Andrew's House yesterday she warned that new restrictions would be imposed - but said she didn't want a second national lockdown, schools will remain open and there will be no Scotland-wide travel restrictions.
