Indoor dining and drinking should only be allowed from July 5, NPHET have advised Cabinet Ministers.
A senior source also confirmed that NPHET gave the green light to allow hotels to reopen as planned on June 2 and outdoor dining to resume from June 7.
The source said this was NPHET’s advice but ultimately Cabinet will make a decision tomorrow signalling the July 5 date is not set in stone, yet.
The public health experts are also believed to have said up to 5,000 spectators can attend outdoor events in large stadiums from early August, which could see fans return to stadiums for games.
And that up to 500 people could be permitted to smaller outdoor venues while between 100-200 people can attend indoor events later in the summer.
The number of guests allowed to attend a wedding reception is also set to increase from 50 in July to 100 in August, under advice given to Ministers tonight.
The Cabinet sub-committee on Covid-19 are hearing the recommendations from NPHET and Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan expressed concern over the threat of the Indian variant as well as the fact there were still millions of people not yet vaccinated.
However, his overall mood is “positive and optimistic,” according to one source.
