Pubs & bars banned from opening at midnight as Government confirms earliest opening time for July 4

Bars and pubs will not be allowed to reopen until 6am tomorrow (Saturday, July 4).

Tomorrow marks the day many businesses have been waiting for as the hospitality industry across the country is finally able to restart for the first time since March.

However despite reports of some bars planning to open from midnight in keeping with the Government's date, it has now been confirmed businesses will not be permitted to open until 6am.

The news was confirmed in a tweet by Westminster Correspondent Ben Kentish after it was announced by No10.

His tweet simply said: "NEW: Pubs can open from 6am tomorrow, No10 says."
