
The Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission launched on Monday the Publishers Conference at Riyadh Front, as part of the activities of the Riyadh International Book Fair (RIBF) 2021.
Local, regional and global figures, as well as specialized organizations, representatives and investors for the publishing sector took part in the event to discuss the future of publishing industry.
The two-day conference includes workshops and dialogue sessions presented by major Arab publishing houses and leaders in the book industry.
They will cover the current challenges facing the public sector and opportunities to benefit from the digital revolution, in addition to means of preserving the intellectual property rights of writers and publishing houses.
The Commission held the conference in an attempt to organize the publishing industry in the kingdom and the entire Arab world and improve the industry to meet international standards.
This conference is the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia. It seeks to research the reality of the publishing industry in the Arab world and develop it to meet internationally competitive levels.
Twelve dialogue sessions will be held, and 42 speakers from the kingdom and the world will participate in the event. They will discuss various aspects of the reality of the local and regional publishing industry and means to address its shortcomings to be able to develop it and raise the level of its contributions to the Arab cultural development.
It further seeks to reformulate the future of the publishing industry in the region.
Prominent publishers in the world and leaders in the book industry will hold workshops, amid active participation from international publishing associations.
The event is considered a starting point towards developing and bolstering the publishing sector at the local and regional levels.
It provides the best opportunity to build and strengthen ties between publishers at the local, Arab and international levels.
