Newspaper publisher Philip Merrill, whose body was found floating in Chesapeake Bay on Monday, apparently took his own life. Merrill, 72, was found with an anchor tied to his legs and what investigators believe was a shotgun wound to the head. He ran the Capital-Gazette Press company which owned several papers in Maryland and the Washingtonian magazine. The famously brash Merrill, who was also a diplomat, was said to be depressed after heart surgery. (Via washingtonpost.com)
