Publicis chief Maurice Lévy is well known for delivering a bit of a tongue-in-cheek Christmas video message, but this year he’s outdone himself. In the video the debonair Frenchman acknowledges that the annual round up of the group’s performance – “it’s been a bumpy ride, tough for us, nevertheless we fared pretty well … and the most difficult part is behind us” – is dull, so viewers should skip straight to the ads for products including washing powder and yoghurt. The punchline is that Lévy gatecrashes every one of the spots, washing his shirt in one and feeding an actor yoghurt in another, as he delivers his company message. Money shot? It has to be Lévy donning a wig for a shampoo ad. Monkey hopes WPP’s Sir Martin Sorrell will rise to his adland rival’s challenge.
