The public are being urged to "stay the course" ahead of the planned second phase of lifting Covid-19 restrictions next week.
In Tuesday morning's daily government briefing, Assistant Secretary at the Department of the Taoiseach Liz Canavan asked people to "keep it up for a few more days".
Ms Canavan admitted she understood the scorching weather was an "understandable opportunity" for people to get out and about.
She said that despite a few "small incidents", gardaí have reported overall good compliance to social distancing guidelines over the bank holiday weekend.
The National Public Health Emergency Team is set to meet on Thursday to review the figures and will advise the Government on whether or not Ireland is ready for entering phase two of our roadmap plan.
The Government is expected to announce this Friday if the plan can go ahead.
In phase two, the travel distance will increase from 5km to 20km.
Four people will also be permitted short visits to another household, as long as social distancing is implemented.
