THANE: Work on the first major public underground parking facility in the city at Gaondevi area near Thane station is nearing completion and could be thrown open for use soon, additional municipal commissioner Sandeep Malvi said on Thursday.
Malvi made the announcement after a visit to the facility on Thursday. The facility will house over 130 cars and bikes at one time, resolving the issue of the parking in the station area. The parking lot has been constructed underground below the Gaondevi playground. Work was delayed due to several reasons, but has now reached a conclusive stage, said officials.
