Public toilets in Edinburgh will not reopen for at least a fortnight despite lockdown easing

Keep your legs crossed as public toilets in Edinburgh are not set to reopen for at least another two weeks despite lockdown easing.

At a meeting today, city councillors were informed that plans for the reopening of public toilets are currently being drawn up, however they will not be presented to the council until July 9.

Recently we reported on how residents in Portobello have been struggling with visitors using their side streets as public urinals.

The news comes as council leader Adam McVey has urged the public not to treat the city's parks and greenspaces as "rubbish dumps" and "urinals" after major concerns were raised by residents at the weekend.

Crime writer Ian Rankin also took to Twitter recently to talk of how he's forced to watch non stop outdoor peeing from his Meadows penthouse.

In line with current government guidance, visitors to your garden are now allowed to use your home's toilet.
