Public to be given a say on new development in Midlothian

Buccleuch Property is set to consult the public on a new development on land east of Dalkeith, Midlothian, known as Salter’s Park.

The company stated that it will "generate considerable employment opportunities" during the redevelopment of business, industrial and storage uses on the site.

Buccleuch intends to submit a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) to Midlothian Council, with a full planning application due after the minimum 12-week consultation period.

Full details about the proposals will be made available on 15 July via a dedicated project website. An online consultation will take place the same day.

A spokesperson at Buccleuch said: "This exciting development will deliver economic benefits to the community by providing new employment uses to the area.

"We are consulting extensively to ensure that that the public have an opportunity to input their views and shape our proposals. We encourage the community to attend and ask any questions they may have."

With offices in Edinburgh and London, Buccleuch has a market exposure of around £250m through a UK-wide investment portfolio, a range of development sites with a pipeline in excess of 3.5 million sq ft and a strategic land portfolio with more than 12,000 consented residential units.

It is also a partner in a number of strategic joint ventures, including Native Land - a specialist residential and mixed use developer based in central London - and Queensberry Properties - which develops residential housing in the Central Belt and Borders of Scotland.
