A large number of people were left laughing after spotting a major typo in the Government's new website for people to claim their Digital Covid Certificates.
The new "COVID-19 Recovery Certificate Request Portal" went live this morning.
Anyone that has had Covid-19 can use the portal to get a form to request a certificate (known as a certificate of recovery) to prove that they have recovered from COVID-19 in the last 6 months.
But there was one issue - the link for the website saw the word certificate spelled wrongly as ' certifcate '.
And a quick-thinking person bought the correctly-spelled domain name, meaning the Government can't take it.
The correct domain was purchased by two Irish lads who decided to have a little bit of fun with it.
And it's safe to say that people were left unimpressed by the blunder.
One Twitter user said: "Truly our government have provided for us an embarrassment of riches.... no wait, sorry, a rich and full amount of embarrassments with our covid cert rollout."
Another pointed out: "One of the first things they train people to watch out for in phishing scams are typos."
A third said: "Fair play to the person who bought the domain name before heading on a long holiday" while another man made a good point about why the Government plumped for such a long domain name
"Why isn't the government using their own website? Surely a contact form at, say, gov . ie/covidrecoverycert makes infinitely more sense. They could even model it after the vaccine registration subdomain http://vaccine.hse.ie if they wanted. This is literally the worst option."
