Two members of the public rushed to aid police officers after they were attacked by a suspect drink driver.
Police officers were attending reports of a suspected drink driver, on Shaftesbury Avenue, in Altrincham, on Tuesday evening.
When police pulled the driver over he attempted to flee and attacked the two officers.

One of the officers was left suffering with a dislocated shoulder, while the other officer suffered a back injury.
The members of the public assisted officers until back up arrived.
A man was later arrested on suspicion of being drunk in charge of a vehicle.
In a statement on Facebook, both officers are now said to be recovering well after receiving medical treatment.
The statement, on the Greater Manchester Police Trafford South page, said: "Many thanks to the two members of the public who came to the aid of officers last night on Shaftsbury Avenue, Altrincham.
"The suspect then assaulted two officers resulting in one officer suffering from a dislocated shoulder and the other officer suffering a back injury.
"The members of the public assisted officers until back up arrived.
"Officers received medical care and are recovering well."
