Public react to moving RTE tribute video for tragic HPV vaccine campaigner Laura Brennan

Members of the public have been moved to tears by a video tribute to a HPV vaccine campaigner who tragically died last week.

Brave Clare woman Laura Brennan passed away on Wednesday March 20 after a battle with cervical cancer.

RTE posted a three minute tribute video to the 26-year-old who was buried on Wednesday morning.

A Facebook post said: "RTÉ Player's tribute to the life and work of women's health and HPV campaigner Laura Brennan."

Hundreds of social media users paid tribute to the "inspirational" young woman.

One person said on Wednesday: "Thank you Laura Brennan, you did good. My little girl got her vaccine today. RIP."

Another added: "Some people leave an incredible footprint in the sand of time.

"Laura’s journey was heartbreakingly short but what a footprint she’s left behind. Rest In Peace beautiful lady.

"Sincere condolences to your family, your friends and all who knew you."

A third user simply said: "In tears. What a wonderful, courageous girl."

The poignant video showed clips from Laura's childhood, as well snippets from some of her interviews as a campaigner.

And dozens of those who watched it praised the "inspirational" woman, who was diagnosed aged 24.

One person said: "Life is so cruel, what a beautiful inspirational young woman! She thoroughly opened the eyes of many.

"She will be remembered as strong, compassionate, and hard working.

"A beautiful tribute to a wonderful courageous girl. Rest easy and fly high."

Another said: "Totally heartbreaking... What an inspirational young woman."

A third added: "Wow...what an incredible young gorgeous girl. A true inspiration.

"So much to be learnt from her. Her strength to the end was beyond words. Rest in peace you beautiful girl."

The Irish Mirror previously reported that an RTE documentary about the life of Laura was pulled as it was due to air on Tuesday - the day before her funeral.
