Harry Rich, chief executive, Enterprise Insight and Make Your Mark Harry Rich wants to make the UK better at doing business. Since 2007 the former lawyer has been chief executive of the campaign to unlock the UK's enterprise potential, leading events including Enterprise Week, which give young people ways to try out being enterprising. During 2008 the campaign will broaden, aiming to encourage women and over-50s to be the entrepreneurs of the future.

John Rendel, CEO, Promoting Equality in African Schools (PEAS) Six years ago John Rendel co-founded St Janan Luwum secondary school in Uganda. By 2008 his charity, Promoting Equality in African Schools, ran three more, and he aims to launch another nine by 2011. Many students have lost parents to HIV/Aids, malaria or war, but Rendel is determined to give them the best start they can get.

Louisa Hadkinson, events manager, The House of St Barnabas The gulf between the high-flyers of London's creative industries and the desperate lives of the area's homeless population has always been uncomfortable — but Louisa Hadkinson has found a way to bring them together. By hiring out the House of Barnabas' beautiful 18th-century Georgian house she is making money for the homelessness charity, and giving local industries a place to network.

Mary Harrington, co-founder, School of Everything Mary Harrington has a had a diverse career — from a first at Oxford to growing an arts event that went from a Hackney apartment to being listed as one of Time Out's top five New Year's Eve tickets. Through it all she has learned the importance of networks, and so co-launched the School of Everything, to unite teachers with those who want to learn.

Stephanie Hughes, head of digital communications, NSPCC Stephanie Hughes is a digital campaigner determined to use her background in commercial communication agencies to help the NSPCC. All her campaigns have won awards, but Stephanie believes the most rewarding aspect of it all is reaching out to people who need the NSPCC in an environment they trust.
