Public Health Wales is encouraging people to download the Covid-19 symptom tracker app - here's how to do it

Public Health Wales is encouraging everyone to download the Covid-19 Symptom Tracker app, which has been supported by Welsh Government.

The app allows users to log daily symptoms to help build a clearer picture of how coronavirus is affecting people.

Once downloaded, you are encouraged to report your health daily, whether you are experiencing symptoms or not.

The information will help support scientists to help health services by identifying how fast the virus is spreading in your area, high-risk areas in the UK, and who is most at risk by better understanding symptoms linked to underlying health conditions.

Known as Covid Symptom Tracker, the app allows you to help others, but does not offer health advice.

It has been designed by doctors and scientists at King's College London, and St Thomas' Hospitals and Zoe Global Limited, a health technology company.

You will be asked to share some general information, such as your age and some health information, such as whether you have certain diseases.

You will then be asked every day to record how you feel and share your symptoms.

You will be asked whether you have visited the hospital, what treatment you received there, and whether you have been tested for Covid-19.

No information supplied will be used for commercial purposes.

Public Health Wales wrote on its Facebook page: "We are encouraging everyone to download the COVID-19 Symptom Tracker app, which has been supported by Welsh Government. The app allows users to log daily symptoms to help build a clearer picture of how the virus is affecting people."
