Public Health Scotland with today's Covid infection rate data from across the nation

No new coronavirus deaths and 168 positive cases were recorded overnight in Scotland.

The latest figures have been published this afternoon by the Scottish Government as part of its national COVID-19 daily briefing.

In terms of Public Health Scotland's rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, Moray still has the highest rate in the country — at 93.9 as of Sunday, May 9.

Glasgow City has the second highest rate of 48.3 while Clackmannanshire is third with 42.7

Currently, 22 of Scotland's 32 council regions have an infection rate below the national average of 22.7.

Locally, only South Ayrshire (13.3) sits below the Scottish average. North Ayrshire's infection rate is 16.3 with East Ayrshire at 31.1.

Across Ayrshire, 12 new cases of the disease were reported overnight.

Of the new cases, five were from South Ayrshire, four were attributed to East Ayrshire and three to North Ayrshire.

There are currently 72 Covid patients in Scottish hospitals with fewer than five in the NHS Ayrshire and Arran health board area.

A total of six people are in ICUs across the country – fewer than five of those are in Ayrshire.

The nation's pandemic death toll remains at 7,661, however, 10,097 deaths have been registered in Scotland where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate up to Sunday, May 2.

The nation's vaccination programme continues to progress with 2,909,156 people having had a first dose and 1,485,296 a second dose.
