A record 6,835 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Scotland in the last 24 hours – including 374 in Ayrshire.
Latest data published today by the Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland shows there are 479 Covid patients in Scottish hospitals – up 53 from yesterday.
The number of people battling the virus in ICUs across the nation remains unchanged at 47.
A further four fatalities have been reported meaning Scotland's Covid death toll now stands at 8,103.
However, 10,505 deaths have been registered in Scotland where the virus was mentioned on the death certificate up to Sunday, August 22.
In terms of Public Health Scotland's rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, West Dunbartonshire has the highest rate in the country — at 919.2 as of Thursday, August 26.
East Dunbartonshire has the second-highest infection rate at 846.9 while North Lanarkhire is third with 771.8.
In terms of Ayrshire's three local authorities, North Ayrshire has the highest rate of 501.3 while South Ayrshire's rate is 412 and East Ayrshire's is 371.7.
Of the new cases of Covid reported in Ayrshire, 151 were in North Ayrshire, 122 in South Ayrshire and 101 in East Ayrshire.

There are 25 Covid patients in Ayrshire hospitals – up three from yesterday – while fewer than five people are battling the disease in intensive care in the region.
A total of 4,095,463 people have received the first dose of a Covid vaccine and 3,629,482 have received a second dose.
