Health chiefs have tonight confirmed "a number of confirmed cases" of coronavirus linked to Ayr's biggest primary school.
We told earlier today how Heathfield Primary was closing its doors after Test & Trace teams swooped.
Now officials have confirmed the school and its nursery will stay shut until "at least" Monday, March 22.
Contact tracing is underway following the reported cases with links to the school.
All staff and pupils have been ordered to stay away as a result.
Nearby Braehead Primary is another to be placed under similar measures as authorities try to stop the spread of Covid in the area.
In a joint statement to parents at Heathfield tonight, the NHS and South Ayrshire Council explained their move to close the entire school.
They said: "NHS Ayrshire & Arran's health protection team is conducting a contact tracing exercise in relation to a number of confirmed cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) infection connected to Heathfield Primary School.
"The risk to children is very low.
"Following careful consideration of all available information and in conjunction with South Ayrshire Council, we have agreed a temporary closure of the school until at least Monday, March 22.
"Contact will be made with parents and carers to confirm when the school will reopen.
"The school will contact parents and carers to confirm remote learning arrangements."
Nursery kids and pupils in P1 to P3 had been back in class since Monday, February 22 with P4 and upwards due to return from this Monday.
