Public Health Scotland Covid infection rate latest as lockdown level eases

A further 142 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus as Scotland embraces another easing in lockdown restrictions.

No new deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, according to data released this afternoon by the Scottish Government.

In terms of the rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, North Lanarkshire has the highest infection rate in the country – at 64.4 as of Sunday, April 25.

East Ayrshire has the second highest infection rate in the country of 50.0 while the figures for neighbouring South Ayrshire and North Ayrshire are 44.4 and 22.3 respectively.

The figures come as restrictions drop to level three across the nation, allowing the reopening of retail services and partial reopening of the hospitality sector.
