Public Health England say 2 more people have been diagnosed with coronavirus in Nottingham

Health bosses have confirmed that two more people in Nottingham have been diagnosed with coronavirus.

It means in the city there are now five confirmed cases, up from three, with six for the county.

The figures were confirmed today by Public Health England.

It comes after two patients tested positive for the virus while being treated at the city's hospitals.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on Thursday, March 12, that anyone with coronavirus symptoms, however mild, should stay at home for seven days. These include a continuous cough or high temperature.

The PM also said school trips abroad should be cancelled and people over 70 should not go on cruises, though he has not yet taken the step of closing schools or cancelling major events yet.

Meanwhile, the University of Nottingham has decided to cancel all face-to-face lectures, seminars and tutorials later this month in light of the 'pandemic'.

The city's annual St Patrick's Day celebrations, in Old Market Square, have also been axed.
