Public Health England figures show increase in coronavirus cases across Nottinghamshire

The number of coronavirus cases across Nottinghamshire continue to increase, Public Health England figures show.

As of 4.07pm on April 25, the number of lab-confirmed cases jumped from 1,404 to 1,461 across the city and county, an increase of 57.

In Nottingham, the figures show there had been 17 more confirmed cases, bringing the total to 468.

The data also shows a further increase in Nottinghamshire, as cases surged from 953 to 993 in the past 24 hours.

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust also announced a further eight people had died across the Queen's Medical Centre and City Hospital, with the death toll now at 177.

The number of deaths in hospitals in the UK also surpassed 20,000 on Saturday, April 25.

Chief scientific advisor Sir Patrick Vallance had previously said at the start of March that such a milestone was a "good outcome".

The number of UK cases now stands at 148,377, with 20,319 deaths.
