Public Health director for Nottinghamshire tests positive for coronavirus

Nottinghamshire's Public Health director has tested positive for coronavirus.

Jonathan Gribbin, director of Public Health for Nottinghamshire, was not available on the weekly press briefing on Friday, January 22.

It has now been confirmed that he has Covid-19.

In his role as Public Health director for Nottinghamshire County Council, Mr Gribbin is responsible for leading the county's response to the virus.

He is also responsible for providing updates on the latest situation in the county during weekly media briefings.

A spokeswoman for Nottinghamshire County Council said: "We can confirm that Jonathan Gribbin, Director of Public Health for Nottinghamshire, received a positive result for Covid-19 after developing symptoms last weekend (January 16 and 17).

"Jonathan was already self isolating because a family member living at home, who works as a frontline NHS worker, had tested positive in the days before he did.

"Thankfully, neither of them have symptoms which are serious but our best wishes go to them for a speedy recovery.

"Jonathan thanks those who have passed on their best wishes."
