Public could have say on whether festivals get go-ahead in West Dunbartonshire

Fairgrounds, festivals and carnivals taking place in Dumbarton and the Vale may not be allowed to go ahead without public consultation in future.

Councillors have agreed that a report be prepared outlining procedures for obtaining a temporary public entertainment licence for events.

Currently licences for events such as the carnival which took place recently at Dumbarton Common can be granted without any consultation or notification to residents living nearby.
