Public asked to help decide on new housing and retail development in West Lothian

Residents in West Lothian are asked to have their say on the building of a new housing scheme, with retail shops.

The developers, Persimmon Homes East Scotland, sent off a Proposal of Application Notice to West Lothian Council advising that they will be undertaking an online public consultation.

They plan to build a new development on land at Simpson Avenue/Leyland Road, Bathgate, comprising 61 residential units, commercial and retail uses.

In a letter to Persimmon Homes, the principal planning officer at West Lothian Council, Tony Irving, said: “I would request that you offer an online meeting to the community council and to Wester Inch Community Association.

“The proposed arrangements for an online public event are satisfactory. Please confirm if there will be an associated consultation webpage or how information on the proposal will be made available.

“To maximise attendance at the online public event, I would request you send direct notification of it, giving at least 7 days notice,to the parties listed in section 5 of the PoAN form and also to residential properties that adjoin the site.”

The developer has also agreed that they will advertise the public consultation in The West Lothian Courier at least seven days before the event.
