Pub up in flames in targeted firebomb attack as neighbours evacuated from homes

Police have launched an investigation after a pub in Neilston went up in flames last night.

Emergency services raced to the scene at the iconic Travellers Rest, on Neilston Road, after the alarm was raised around 9:35pm.

Huge clouds of smoke could be seen in the sky and local residents living near the pub were forced to evacuate their homes while fire crews tackled the blaze, reports the Daily Record.

Police confirm that they are treating the fire as suspicious and that enquires remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the paper: "We were called around 9.35pm on Sunday, 3 January, to a report of a fire at a premises in Neilston Road, Glasgow.

"It is being treated as suspicious and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have been contacted for comment.
