A pub is set to become the UK's first water bar - selling H2O from around the world for up to £11.50 a time.
The Crag Inn is being transformed into a venue selling water from around the globe after landlord Doran Binder found a spring beneath his pub near Middlesborough.
Doran has been selling the water at his pub since 2018, and now plans to sell it alongside other bottled waters, reports CheshireLive.
He said: "As far as I'm aware we are the only water bar in the UK
"That just seems quite incredible that there isn't another one. I thought there was one in Selfridges, but apparently that’s a water cocktail bar, and that’s not what we’re doing here.
"What we’re doing is displaying, explaining and trying bottles from all over the world, and just really explaining the story behind them, where they come from and why they taste like they do taste.
"Every day since the story broke we've had water tourists coming in wanting to find out about water, and there seems to be real interest in a topic that three years ago, to me, wasn't even a topic. Water was just water.
"But now that I've learned a little bit, and I'm learning more and I'm certifying to be a sommelier, it's absolutely fascinating."
The water bar will serve natural, mineral and spring waters from around the world by the bottle, ranging from Binder's own Crag Spring Water at £3.50 per 750ml bottle, to a litre bottle of Spanish Solan de Cabras for £11.50.
In Los Angeles, Ray’s and Stark Bar has been offering a ‘water menu’ since 2013, which boasts 19 waters from around the world.
