Pub shares moving photo of elderly man dining with a clock for the most adorable reason

A photo of an elderly man enjoying his tea and a pint in a pub has gone viral on Facebook after he was spotted 'keeping time' during his visit.

Staff at the McGinn's Hop House in Galway, Ireland, shared the image on its social media page and were inundated with hundreds of comments.

Many bars and restaurants across the UK and Ireland have been relying on pre-booked slots, which come with a limited time frame, due to the current coronavirus restrictions.

And this particular photo shows how much of an impact this has had with the gentleman taking a stop watch with him to the pub after he was "worried" he'd stay over the 90-minute limit.

Staff assured followers that the customer consented to having his photo taken and said that staff at McGinn's chatted with him for a while before calling him a taxi and walking him out.

It has prompted quite the reaction, with many offering to pay for the gentleman's next trip to the boozer.

"His little alarm clock out on the table, oh my heart. Enjoy your pint bud," wrote one.

Another said: "I've tears rolling down my face looking at that pic, he shouldn't have to feel like that, has to be a better way."

One person went the extra mile and said: "So many lovely comments here.... I've just called in to McGinns and dropped a few quid in behind the bar for the man who's called Finbarr on behalf of all the lovely people here."
