Man assaulted pub patron, manager before robbing bottleshop: police

A man assaulted two people at a Jerrabomberra hotel before pulling out two knives and robbing the bottleshop, police say.

NSW Police said they had arrested a 48-year-old man over the incident, at a hotel on Limestone Drive, Jerrabomberra, about 7.50pm Thursday.

They said the man assaulted another man at the hotel, then assaulted the venue's 23-year-old manager when he tried to intervene.

"The manager - with the help of a patron - removed the man from the venue," police said in a statement.

"The man then entered the hotel's bottle shop about 8.30pm, allegedly armed with two knives.

"Police have been told the man failed to leave the shop when asked before allegedly threatening the venue's manager and stealing alcohol."

Police said they went to a home on Bluestone Gardens, Jerrabomberra, about 10.35pm and arrested the man and seized two knives.

The man was taken to Queanbeyan Hospital under police guard to be treated for minor injuries, before he was charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon, failing to leave a premises when required, and common assault.

Police ask anyone with information about this incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at the website.
