Pub landlord slams council for eight YEAR wait for binman and hefty removal bill

A pub landlord has slammed council pen pushers after waiting almost eight years for its bin-men to collect his rubbish.

Furious Graham Carlisle pays £1,100 council tax and nearly £8,000 business rates a year to run The Ship Inn in Kingston-upon-Hull , East Yorkshire .

But despite endless phone calls to the local authority he's been told he doesn't qualify for council-funded bin collection due to a blunder.

The 52-year-old has forked out £16-a-week - another £6,656 over eight years - for a private company to pick up his waste.

Mr Carlisle made countless phonecalls to the local authority in a bid to secure bin collection for The Ship Inn (Google Street View)

But Graham - who took over the boozer in 2012 - says he keeps getting fobbed off every time he calls up Hull City Council .

He said: "It's like banging my head against a brick wall.

"I have been ringing for almost eight years and every time I am told there is no one available to speak to at the time.

"I last called two years ago and I'm still waiting for that call back."

Graham added that he is entitled to three different bin collections by the council.

He said: "The pub is in a cul-de-sac with one streetlight and a B&Q.

"No one else lives down here except for me, so what are they spending my council tax on?

"I am effectively paying for a bin collection they are refusing to do.”

A Hull City Council spokesman confirmed they are now aware of Mr Carlisle's situation and will ensure he has a regular collection of his domestic waste.
