Pub forced to close after staff member linked to call centre Covid-19 outbreak

A pub in Motherwell has shut its doors to punters today after a staff member was linked to the Lanarkshire call centre coronavirus outbreak.

Measures had been brought in by NHS Lanarkshire after eight workers at Sitel call centre in Maxwell Park tested positive for the virus.

And now The Railway Tavern, on Merry Street, has closed for the day to allow for a deep clean of the premises after learning that a part time member of staff had links to the call centre.

A Facebook post by the pub read: “Hi folks just to let you know that we took the decision to voluntary close today to deep clean the premises after learning a part time member of staff was linked to the Covid-19 outbreak in the call centre in Bellshill.

“We contacted Public Health Scotland as soon as we were made aware of this and are currently awaiting their guidance. As always the health and well being of all our customers and staff are of upmost importance and we will keep everyone updated and informed.”
