Popular pub chain Wetherspoons has shocked customers after deciding to scrap roast dinners from its menu.
The British institution which is the roast dinner is facing the chop from the budget boozer, as speculation mounts it is focusing more on its main menu.
The eatery, famous for its bargain breakfasts and cheap alcohol, has recently added two new ‘gourmet’ burgers to its cuisine.
Previously, hungry patrons were able to get their hands on the traditional Sunday roast for around £7, which came complete with all the trimmings and a glass of alcohol thrown in.
It was available in the chain's 950 pubs every week as part of their popular food clubs.
But to many customers' dismay, the classic dish will last be served up on Mother’s Day, March 6.
The online page has already vanished from its website, throwing up an error message instead.
A spokesman for the chain told The Sun the decision was “one of those things”.
They added: “There will be a lot of disappointed people and we apologise for that.
“But sometimes you have to make a commercial decision.”
The decision to axe it is thought to be linked to a revamp the company is undergoing.
The official JD Wetherspoon’s twitter account recently announced a new menu, with drinks, coming soon.
But in a strange twist, the online pages for their other themed nights - including Fish Friday, Mexican Monday and Wing it Wednesday – have also disappeared.
