Pub bosses vent fury at 'no show' punters on first day back open after lockdown

Furious pub and restaurant bosses have vented their anger after a high number of no shows on the first day they were allowed to reopen.

Some suggested people who do this should be blacklisted, with the hospitality industry having already endured a horrific 12 months.

One Italian restaurant in Liverpool said: "Two tables no show already! F*** sake guys."

"This is infuriating in all industries, but please don't do it especially at the moment after the last 12 months!" a second agreed.

Birmingham Live report s a third as saying: "Absolutely hate the general public, they complain if you try to take deposits, yet they do things like this too! Not nice at all!"

"I despair," wrote another.

A fifth said: "Disgusting."

"Hasn't hospitality been through enough?" asked another.

"Hate when people do this in normal circumstances, but if you're doing this under the current situation you're an absolute s***", said another.

Another replied: "You need to take deposits-or just card details so if they don’t show then you charge. Most places are doing this. Personally I’m gutted as would’ve loved a table at yours today."

Businesses have voiced their frustration over no shows (PA)

"Beer garden bookings with no deposit and temperamental weather is not a good match," another wrote.

Another wrote: "I have a theory about no-shows.

"A considerable amount are down to executives having their people blanket book places, over numerous dates and times, so that they always have a table somewhere, available whenever."

Another fumed: "They should be blacklisted forever. So lazy and rude. And would no doubt be the first to complain on TripA if there was the smallest of issues if they bothered to turn up."

Pubs in England are now open again outdoors as of Monday, April 12.

Punters are set to be welcomed back indoors from May 17, under the government roadmap, with social distancing and face mask rules still required until at least June 21.
